Michael and his entire family moved from Honduras to the Rockaway Peninsula 20 years ago. In tears, he told me that he has lost everything.
He works at a local car wash in Far Rockaway, which has been destroyed also and doesn’t know when he can go back to work to earn himself a living.
Michael freezes at night with no power or heat and has been wearing many layers of clothing to get to sleep at night. He has spent the last two weeks throwing out his entire life along with cleaning out the houses of his three sisters who also live in the Beach 20’s.
