In preparation for Sandy, Eugene Flinn armed his kitchen for the worst. Fortunately, his businesses, the Elysian and Amanda’s, were unaffected besides the loss of power.
Mr. Flinn was greatly moved when he saw his fellow Hoboken residents walking around, zombie-like, with bags on their legs. He chose to give food free of compensation as an act of kindness. All he asked in return was for people to carry on the goodwill.
